Install metal directly over asphalt

McElroy Metal has introduced a system that can install standing seam metal roofing directly over asphalt shingles without a tear off. The system is designed around a clip paired with the company’s 1 3/8-in.-tall two-piece mechanically seamed 138T symmetrical standing seam panel. One clip is long enough to sit on two shingles and align the clip into the plane of the roof. The clips have eight holes so the installer can align the fasteners through the ends of the shingle tabs. Clips also will work with dimensional or architectural shingled roofs.
